Accessibility Statement

The lodges have been architect-designed from new for accessibility and are graded National Accessibility Scheme Mobility 3 assisted & Mobility 3 independent to enable you to enjoy a self-catering holiday.

The energy in 6 of the lodges is operated by a £1/£2-coin meter and charged per unit at appropriate billed tariff. The meter is situated in the cupboard to the right of the kitchen drawers unit. Mains/mini circuit breakers are also located here.

A list of useful local medical contacts etc. are displayed in the lodge as well as being emailed to Guests in the Welcome Information via email.

Available to all lodges: electric hoists or stand aids (please bring your own sling for hygiene/safety reasons), height adjustable electric profiling single beds with integral cot sides and pressure relieving mattress. Shower/commode chairs (attendant or self-propelling) or static shower seats. (Please specify at time of booking). Over-bed table. Electric upright rise and recline chair.

We have other accessibility equipment available free of charge subject to availability: manual wheelchairs, rotostand, bed levers, bed rail bumpers, over bed lifting poles, alternating/air mattress, Zimmer frames, toilet seat raisers (extra 4 inches). The toilet in the shower room is raised by two inches.

Please enquire and reserve extra equipment when booking. Please make sure you have written confirmation of your extra requirements being available. We will do our utmost to source your equipment requirements.

Guests are greeted outdoors as is best Covid Protocol. Guests are then shown to their parking and lodge.

All car parking and driveways are tarmacadam. Opposite the lodges there are at least four accessible tarmac parking spaces suitable for minibuses or additional cars.

Parking spaces allow access to the front, rear and side doors of your vehicle. Your car can be parked immediately next to the ramp on all lodges.

From your car onto very low ramps 1:15 or 1:20 these ramps are 1.35m wide with handrails either side. At the top of the ramp there is a large level decking area with a garden table, chairs and sun parasol.

Level access to two sets of full length glazed French doors wider than 1m. One set of French doors access the kitchen/diner area, the other French doors access the lounge area.

The rear of the lodge has similar ramp and decking and two sets of fully glazed French level entry doors over 1m wide. These doors access two rear bedrooms.

There are rotary washing lines and general rubbish bins outside every lodge and automatic courtesy light.

Lounge, Kitchen/diner is open plan with level entry doors and laminate flooring. The kitchen units/worktops are lowered in height to 850mm. Stainless steel sink set into lowered worktops. The sink unit is accessible underneath to allow wheelchairs users to facilitate washing -up. Sink height is 850mm. Width under sink is 945 mm. There are lever mixer taps.

Kitchen appliances to include: cooker with cooker hood extractor, microwave, full size upright fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Some lodges are now fitted with a dishwasher too! Kettle, toaster, bread bin and crockery, cutlery, glasses for six persons along with cooking utensils/vessels and ovenware.

Iron, Ironing board, laundry basket. Oven glove. Tea towels and sundry items supplied in drawer unit. Due to possible skin sensitivities, we do not supply laundry/dish detergent, etc.

In the Lounge/Dining area there is a large dining table with six chairs. The lounge has leather settees. All lodges have an electric rise and recline chair that will place you in a partial standing position and semi reclines with footrest.

Large wall mounted TV.

Thermostatic electric wall heaters placed at height for easy adjustment of temperature settings and clear of wheelchairs.

Hallway leading to three bedrooms, shower room/WC and separate WC.The hallway is 1.2m wide with a 1.2m turning circle outside the bedrooms/shower room.

The doors to the three bedrooms & shower room/WC. are “pocket doors” in 6 of the lodges (they slide into the fabric of the building making wheelchair access much easier). They are all a minimum of 820mm wide.

Bedrooms – One interior bedroom as standard double with orthopedic mattress, and two rear bedrooms leading onto decking to include a number of single electric profiling beds with pressure relieving mattresses. Adjustable height and moveable twin rail clothes hanger with storage lockers. Multiple 1.200m turning circles. Switch on wall by French doors for rear balcony light.

All bed linen supplied and beds made up as required, therefore only beds made appropriate to occupancy.  No personal towels supplied.

The separate toilet and wash basin room has a standard height toilet with wash basin, mirror and wall mounted fan heater and automatic extractor fan. Slip resistant flooring. Moveable storage locker with drawers. Separate bowl for bed bathing.

In the shower room, the toilet and wash basin all fully accessible. Toilet is raised height 450mm to 500mm with drop down bar and static grab handle heights 720mm. Extra height toilet seat raisers are available, please book.

Large level entry “Neaco flow deck shower” designed for wheelchairs 1050mm by 1050mm with high slip resistance tray, half height folding doors and shower curtains. MIRA Advance ATL Flex Thermostatic care shower. Slip resistant flooring to shower room and 1.2m turning circle.

3 lodges are left-hand transfer with static grab bar to left of toilet and drop-down bars on the right of the toilet (as seated), and 4 lodges are right-hand transfer with the static grab bar to the right of the toilet (as seated) and the drop-down bars to the left. Please make preference known at time of booking if this is a consideration.

Wash basin is low height 750mm with clear under space for wheelchairs, mirror above wash basin with lever turn taps. Light with shave point above mirror. Multiple grab rails in shower and around shower room. Wall mounted electric fan heater, pull cord operated. Automatic extractor fan. Shower mats supplied.

Additional information

Smoke detector in kitchen. Heat detector in hallway. Fire blanket, fire extinguisher in kitchen. Emergency lighting throughout. Lowered light switches. All the lighting is low energy.

The high insulation values for heat retention within the lodges however does affect the efficiency of the free Wifi. There is continuous hot water to the sink and two wash basins from a hot water cylinder.

A “RADAR” key is available to Guests allowing use of locked Public Conveniences for the Disabled, returnable £5 deposit.
